The American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) was founded to promote the growth and development of pharmacognosy, to provide the opportunity for association among students in the sciences, and to provide opportunities for presentation of research achievements. ASP supports scholarly effort and the dissemination of results in the broad, interdisciplinary world of pharmacognosy and associated natural product sciences; therefore, the establishment of student chapters will promote an interest in the science of natural products, as well as aid in the development of the next generation of pharmacognosists.

The primary purpose of this organization is to provide medical students at UIC exposure to the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Many medical students may not be familiar with this growing field and it may be attractive to students who are also interested in orthopedics, neurology, and sports medicine. In addition, the rehab issues that physiatrists work with are relevant to internal medicine and a variety of other specialties.

Through lectures, hands-on workshops (ex. MSK physical exam practice, ultrasound workshops), and shadowing opportunities students will get a first hand glimpse into the life of a physiatrist and the holistic approach to patient care they take. Students will also be able to learn more about the field through talks. Another goal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Interest Group is to coordinate a variety of service opportunities including adaptive sports camps and race medicine events.

Sports Medicine Interest Group aims to expose students to the field of sports medicine and its various career routes via workshops, panels, and on-field experiences. Sports Medicine Interest Group offers sports medicine shadowing opportunities under Family Medicine, PM&R, and Orthopedic Surgery physicians. Students for Justice in Palestine bring awareness to the Israeli occupation of Palestine as a human rights issue. Our mission is to educate the student body on the history of the Israeli occupation and the Zionist movement, as well as the daily lives of Palestinians under occupation.

SJP believes that the struggles of Palestinians are not isolated to the region, but they intersect with the struggles surrounding Black and African Americans, Native Americans, the LGBTQ+ community, as well as all marginalized and disenfranchised people in all places.

TED is one of the world's largest organizations that shares the stories and discoveries of people who have made an impact on society and their fields, as well as inspired the lives of many. Members of TEDxUofIChicago will have the opportunity to plan, execute and spearhead TED-affiliated events (in the comfort of their university), as well as gain leadership, event planning and volunteering experience, coupled with strong career insight (from esteemed speakers) and mentorship from seasoned E-Board members. Additionally, members will also have a confirmed seat at our event in Spring which is by first-come-first-serve registration only, as we are only limited to 100 seats in our audience.
