Happy February! Here's what's happening this month at COCL, around campus, and throughout Chicagoland!

Things to Do in Chicagoland this Month

  • Free Museum Days: Chicago is home to some of the world's greatest museums, and wintertime is free admission season! Get out of the cold and visit the Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, MSI, and the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center on select days where admission is free for Illinois residents. Check out the link for each museum's free dates and more info!
  • 2025 Chicago Auto Show: If you're looking to stay out of the cold with more indoor events, check out the Chicago Auto Show! Running from February 8th to February 17th, this is one of the city's most iconic conventions, featuring nearly 1,000 different vehicles from over 20 manufacturers. What's Happening on Campus this Month?

UIC Black History Month

The UIC Black History Month 2025 Student Planning Committee invites students, faculty, and staff to participate in this year’s Black History Month recognition from February 1-28, 2025.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of the achievements of Africans and African Americans and a time to acknowledge the central role of Black people in U.S. history. In observance of this important month, the University of Illinois Chicago has scheduled several campus events. Click the box to see all the amazing events being hosted!

 

Chess Tournament
If you're a casual chess player or a pro looking to test their skills, come play at the Chess Tournament! This free event will be held on February 13th from 5:00pm - 10:00pm at the Student Recreation Facility. Click on the image to register, and be sure to do so before the registration deadline of February 12th, 11:59pm. 

Wellness Health Fair
Stop by the Cardinal Room in Student Center East this Valentine's Day for the lovely Wellness Health Fair, hosted by the UIC Wellness Center! This free, casual event will feature free health screenings, interactive demonstrations, and prize giveaways. It takes place on February 14th from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Click the image for more details!
