Connect Students interested in ID experiences including, but not limited to, relevant clinics, research (both lab basic science and public health), and other resources. This interest group aims to develop a strong appreciation for Deaf culture, a functional understanding of American Sign Language (ASL), and a greater awareness of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH) individuals. To accomplish this, we will engage in peer-led ASL lessons, learn about Deaf culture, and facilitate ASL-related activities for interested students. This group upholds the principles of justice for people living with disabilities and anti-racism specifically through the inclusion of our local DHH community, spreading awareness about Black ASL, and making ASL education accessible.

Our parent organization, National Marrow Donor Program has three strategic pillars of action: accelerate progress, serve as a world-class partner, and expand access, to save lives through cell therapy. The National Marrow Donor Program Student Chapter at UIC is a student organization that hosts drives where we educate the UIC campus and surrounding community about the importance of more potential donors joining the marrow registry. Our National Marrow Donor Program Student Chapter at UIC serves to increase awareness of the need for young, committed, racially and ethnically diverse registry members who can save a life. Fundraising and campus-wide education / awareness events are essential to the National Marrow Donor Program Student Chapter at UIC, which further aids the organization to expand access to treatment, so every patient can receive life-saving cell therapy. Partnering with the National Marrow Donor Program's representative to plan and achieve the yearly goals of the chapter is essential to this organization’s work.
