The purpose of the Italian Club at UIC shall be to serve the entire community of the University of
Illinois at Chicago. The following objectives of the club are:
i. to promote the interest in studying and speaking the Italian language and culture,
ii. to promote awareness of Italian culture and its contributions to present American
society through the support of a University's Italian Club, and in a wider context,
through activities affiliated with other University and community events.
iii. to provide a means for students to discover and participate in the rich cultural and

The mission of Symbols of Inclusion is twofold. First, we aim to provide a supportive community at UIC for women, historically underrepresented students, and gender and sexual minority students of mathematics. We will facilitate mentoring networks and community-building opportunities, and provide resources to help undergraduates transition into higher education or a career related to mathematics. Second, we aim to educate ourselves on how best to advocate for students of color in mathematics, and for other students with marginalized identities in mathematics. We will study resources and perspectives from members of these communities and experts in the field, and aim to bring this understanding to our teaching, research, and community-building work.
