October G.I.V.E

This October we will be partnering with Cradles to Crayons! Transportation will be provided to the Giving Factory warehouse, where volunteers will help to sort, quality check and process essential items for children and families who are experiencing poverty.

The shuttle will meet in front of Student Center East, 750 S Halsted. We will leave UIC at 9:10 AM and return by 12PM. If you will be driving yourself, please email us slce@uic.edu.

Volunteering Information: The Giving Factory is a warehouse environment. Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toed shoes and layered clothing that they do not mind getting dirty. Your volunteer shift will begin with an orientation led by a Cradles to Crayons staff member and then volunteers will be sent to their stations to inspect, sort, and package donations alongside other individuals and groups. Cradles to Crayons is wheelchair accessible and can provide reasonable accommodation for any volunteers who might need it—please just let us know. Each shift will end with a wrap-up by a C2C staff member, and an opportunity to learn the number of children you impacted during your shift and to take group pictures.
