Join author Kaila Yu as she discusses her debut book, Fetishized: A Reckoning with Yellow Fever, Feminism, and Beauty, a memoir-in-essays that explores these themes and the roles that pop culture and colonialism play in shaping pervasive and destructive stereotypes about Asian women and their bodies.

Kaila is an author based in Los Angeles. Her debut memoir, ‘Fetishized: A Reckoning with Yellow Fever, Feminism, and Beauty,’ was published on August 19th, 2025, with Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing. She is also a luxury travel, food, and culture writer and on-camera correspondent who has written for The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Conde Nast Traveler, National Geographic, and more.
